I’m thrilled to share the highlights of our recent family escape to North Wales, where every moment was a magical discovery. Our home base was the exquisite Sychant Pass House, offering a luxurious retreat with expansive grounds that felt like our own slice of paradise.
We embarked on unforgettable adventures, starting with Conwy Castle, an iconic medieval fortress with panoramic views that left us in awe. We found a beautiful little frozen yoghurt shop not far from the castle and enjoyed eating this along the coastal walk. We spent a good while watching the boats come and go from the bank and saw lots of families spend time crabbing by the water.
Betws-y-Coed enchanted us with its charming architecture and lush natural beauty, perfect for leisurely strolls and family fun. We had an absolutely perfect day soaking up the village’s charm. We indulged in some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever tasted while meandering along the scenic riverbank. We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a heron gracefully hunting for its next meal and even saw a few adventurous souls taking a refreshing swim in the river under the warm, sunny skies. It was one of those days that felt just right.
Our visit to Portmeirion was a total highlight! We arrived early to beat the crowds and make the most of the sunny weather, which turned out to be a brilliant move. The town’s whimsical, Italian-inspired architecture was even more enchanting under the clear blue sky. We treated ourselves to iced lattes as we wandered through the colourful streets, soaking up the unique charm of the place. A leisurely walk along the river added to the day’s magic, offering serene views and a perfect backdrop for some memorable photos. It truly felt like we had left Wales and returned to our beloved Italy.
Bodnant Gardens was an absolute dream and could easily have its own blog post! ( And may well do at some point ... )The beauty of this place is beyond words, with its vibrant colours and perfectly curated landscapes. Here’s a fun fact: the original owner was the first to introduce rhododendrons to the UK, and you can see these stunning blooms in all their glory throughout the gardens. We spent the day exploring every nook and cranny, and it felt like stepping into a botanical wonderland. We even brought a few plants home to keep a bit of Bodnant’s magic with us. And of course, we couldn’t resist grabbing a coffee to enjoy as we wandered through the lush greenery.
